A few years back I posted a concerned write up regarding RI disclosure laws, or lack thereof, pertaining to stigmatized properties. While the laws here remain status quo, buyers and agents now have a tool to turn to for getting a property’s history. Homedisclosure.com has announced that in-home deaths, along with other crime records such as area thefts and sex offender listings, are now searchable on their database. The site offers an all-in-one resource for sensitive questions, and realtors can now direct clients to a comprehensive fact-finding resource instead of tiptoeing around fair housing issues.
Delivering prospective buyers these “pre-diligence” reports will likely become a normal part of agent practice in the near future. Agents … good or bad thing?
